ICC , ASA 104 or superior, RYA bareboat skipper certificates are recognized. As well certificates similar to the above are also acceptable.

Though a “Day Skipper” sailing license may be rejected by the Port Authority. Therefor is suggested to attend to your sailing club in order to upgrade your license, usually requires a simple application.

A sailing experience declaration is required for the  co-skipper.

The climate in Greece is mild. Winter is rainy with extended periods of sunshine, summer is hot and dry.

The warm period starts in April and ends end of October with and average air temperature from 20 to 30 Celsius.

The warmest period is during June, July and August, and the temperature is between 29 to 38 Celsius. The north winds, known as 'Meltemi', blowing mainly in the Aegean.

The main feature of sailing is simplicity, so be careful not to put unnecessary additives in your suitcases.

Bathing suits and loose beachwear is what you need on board, although for your evening getaways to the islands, slacks or sundresses are suitable. For cool evenings, a windbreak is convenient.

Do not forget deck shoes or tennis shoes for the yacht.

Sun protection is vital, lots of sunscreen, sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats.

Do not forget to pack them all in soft luggage for easy storage on board!

Rewarding a good service is common but always at the charterer's discretion.

As a guideline, we recommend an average of 10-15% of charter costs.

In all the charter bases there are supermarkets, nearby that sell almost anything you want and carry them on board.

You can also pre-order supplies if you wish.

By stating the desired goods, at our provisioning list, Sailing Greek Islands will order your purchases and supermarket will deliver directly to your yacht upon your embarkation. Your bill will be paid on spot cash.

Upon embarkation a briefing for the local cruising area will take place.

A specific yacht check-in will take place, covering the operating systems, including rigging, electrical system, water system, windlass, stove, dinghy, outboard and emergency systems of the yacht.

The same detailed list of the entire inventory of the yacht will be used for the redelivery of the yacht.

Charterers should pay attention to this procedure and make sure they have examined all parts of the yacht.

Signing of the “acceptance statement” or hand-over form justifies the formal, actual, and absolute acceptance of the yacht by the charterer.

An one way sailing cruise is possible, but in most cases, you will be charged a one-way extra charge.

The cost varies according to the distance between the port of departure and the port of arrival.

It is worth mentioning that during the summer season, one-way offers are posted on our site.

Most islands do not have mooring lines, you must drop your anchor.

Long side is also rare.

For a late arrival at the embarkation base (after 18:00 hours) please contact Sailing Greek Islands.

We will make the appropriate arrangements and advise you accordingly.

All crews need to return to the redelivery marina /  port the previous day, latest at 18.00, so that in case of any damages or losses, our base team can organize any repairs.

That way, the yacht will be ready in time for the next crew.

The maximum number of guests allowed on board in Greece is generally 12 pax, as per maritime safety regulations.

But depending on the size of the yacht it becomes lower as well depending on the insurance of each yacht.
